Power of attorney: attestation route

Singapore is listed as a party to the Hague Apostille Convention [to verify]. Depending on the lender and the Indian state, a POA may be notarised and apostilled in Singapore, or attested at the High Commission of India in Singapore. Confirm the route with the lender before signing. KLICK NRI arranges doorstep pickup and attestation in Singapore.

After it reaches India, the POA must be stamped (adjudicated) within three months, and registered if it will be used to register a property transaction. See our guide Power of attorney from abroad.

Tips

  • Documents not in English may need a certified translation.
  • Some lenders ask for employer letters or bank statements to be attested or stamped by the bank.
  • Keep scans of everything; send originals only when the lender asks.

Typical; lenders may ask for more. This is general information, not legal advice.
